College counseling at JHCS is aimed at helping each student and each family work through the process in the most positive way. Beginning in the second semester of the junior year, students will meet both individually and in groups with the Director of College Counseling and/or the Dean of Students to develop their plan and their college applications. Weekly small-group meetings with the College Counselor will provide a forum for students to walk through the application process and to have general questions addressed. The College Counselor and/or the Dean of Students will meet individually with students and their parents to discuss specific strategies. Eventually, the School will arrange on-campus visits by college representatives, providing students numerous opportunities to gain valuable information about a variety of options. Finally, JHCS will encourage all concerned parties to work together so that this process does not dominate the senior year. Senior year deserves to be special in so many ways and should be enjoyed. It goes by quickly enough as it is, and then will forever be just a memory. With reasonable involvement by all, the college process will take care of itself in an appropriate way.
