Guide to Getting Involved

There are a wide range of ways to get involved in the JHCS community, from participation in our Parent Association to sharing your time, resources, and gifts to enhance the student experience at the school. Our school philosophy expresses our belief that education is a collaboration among the school, the family, and the community, and we are so grateful for your participation and support in advancing our mission.

Join the JHCS Parent Association

Parent Association exists to provide support to the school & faculty. We are successful in doing this because of our supportive community. We rely on generous donations of your time, talent, energy, and financial support to provide food, assistance, and appreciation for faculty and staff all year long through activities such as parent-teacher conferences, admissions open houses, graduation, holiday gifts, and spring staff appreciation. Additionally, the PA hosts (almost) monthly school-wide hot lunches; parents volunteer to provide the food, serve the meal, and clean up. Money generated from the payment of the lunches is used to help fund staff appreciation in the spring.

Giving at JHCS

The Community School is a nonprofit and depends on financial contributions from the community, teachers, and, most importantly, families. Each year we strive to have 100% giving from JHCS Community members. Please visit our Community Fund page to learn more about giving at JHCS. Below are the key date ranges for our three major fundraising campaigns:

Old Bill’s Fun Run: Giving Season open August 9-September 13 at 5pm

Annual Appeal: July 1 through June 30

Annual Gala Fundraiser: held each spring (this year's event is on May 3, 2024)
