School Leadership

Scott Hirschfield has taught public high school since 1991 and has a Master's Degree in Education along with a teaching certificate from Stanford University. Hirschfield began teaching in San Francisco and later taught for Jackson Hole High School for two years, beginning in 1996. He coached the varsity boys high school soccer team in Jackson for many years. Hirschfield earned his Principal Endorsement from the University of Wyoming in June of 2003.

Nancy Jarrell, Board President
Nancy Jarrell has been active in education for many years, through tutoring mathematics, volunteering in the classroom, and serving on various school committees. Prior to moving to Jackson, Nancy lived in Boston, where she worked for IBM and then the WGBH Educational Foundation. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin.

James Mathieu, Board Vice Chairperson
James Mathieu has lived in Jackson Hole since 1972; however, his family had been ranching in the valley since 1957. James graduated from Williams College and has taken graduate courses at Idaho State University and Northeastern University (Boston). Having raised three children, lived in France, and served on numerous local boards, James currently works at Real Estate of Jackson Hole and specializes in business and commercial brokerage.

Ethan Steinberg, Board Treasurer
Ethan Steinberg grew up in Chicago before moving to Providence, RI in 1992. After graduating in 1996 from Brown University with a B.A. in Psychology, he moved to Jackson. Ethan has now worked at Friess Associates in Jackson for the past eight years and is responsible for managing part of the Brandywine Mutual Fund.

Cindee George, Board Secretary
Cindee George grew up in Salt Lake City and received a B.S. from the University of Utah. Since moving to Jackson with her husband and three children, she has been actively involved in the not-for-profit community, most recently serving on the Center For The Arts Board and the Art Association. She has a passion for excellence in education.

Mike Cottingham
A valley resident since 1975, Mike received his BA from the University of Notre Dame in 1967. He pursued graduate studies in community planning with a special interest in educational planning at the University of Cincinnati and received a Master�s degree in Education at Xavier University in Cincinnati in 1972. Mike's interest in educational reform and alternative educational opportunities prompted him to co-found with his wife Helen in 1973, Wilderness Ventures, an innovative multi-environmental summer outdoor leadership, adventure and community service program for young adults. He is a former board member of the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance and most recently spearheaded a fund raising drive for Jackson Hole High School athletics. Mike currently serves on the board of directors of America Outdoors, a 350-member worldwide association of outfitters and guides. Mike and Helen's sons Christopher and Nicholas graduated from Jackson Hole High School in 2000 and 2004, respectively.

Sophie Craighead
Sophie Engelhard Craighead lives in Kelly, Wyoming with her husband, Derek, an ecologist, and her two children, Scotty and Sage. She received a BSFS degree from the Georgetown School of Foreign Service and an M.P.A from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. She worked as Special Assistant to Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfied for six years. She has been involved with philanthropic issues most of her life, serving on the board of the Charles W. Engelhard Foundation. Locally, Sophie serves on the Board of PAWS, Teton County PAL, Curran Seeley, Beringia South, and the Jackson Hole Community Foundation. When not doing board work, she likes to hike with her five dogs.

Bill Field
Bill Field has been a Jackson Hole resident since 1976, having relocated from Pennsylvania, where he grew up and graduated with a B.S. degree from Lehigh University. He has been actively involved in starting and managing several local businesses as well as serving on numerous local not-for-profit boards. Bill and his wife have two sons, the eldest of which is currently attending JHCS. He has a passionate interest in availing youth of opportunities not often found in small rural communities.

Elisabet Lucas
Elisabet Lucas has been highly involved in several schools and community organizations over the last fifteen years, contributing in multiple capacities - on boards and on various committees, including fundraising. Elisabet grew up in Sweden, where she earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Industrial Engineering. She also earned an MBA from Cardiff University, Great Britain. Professionally, she worked as a laser engineer for Candela Laser in Boston before heading the marketing division for Mitsubishi Electric Scandinavia. Elisabet now lives in Teton Village with her husband of twenty years, Wes, and their two daughters, Sarah and Christina, who will both attend JHCS.

James D. Walter
After graduating from St. Lawrence University and working briefly with J.P. Morgan Chase Investment Bank, Jim moved to Jackson and started his career with Teton Valley Ranch (TVRC). Jim served as Executive Director for five years at TVRC, where he oversaw camp operations, managed the relocation and development of the organization’s new ranch, and helmed their capital campaign. In 2007 Jim moved on from TVRC: he now works with a private equity real estate investment fund, Crystal Creek Capital. Jim has a passion for the intermountain West and the outdoors, and he continually supports education through his board memberships at JHCS and The Antonio V. Glassberg Educational Foundation.

Noah Waterhouse
Noah Waterhouse has broad expertise in marketing, account sales, product development, distribution channels, and negotiating strategic partnerships. Noah was a partner and Director of Marketing at RhinoSkin, Inc., where he created and implemented the company's sales and marketing plans and oversaw front-and back-end web development. Currently, Noah is Senior Account Executive at Circumerro Creative Group, a full-service design and development firm that specializes in traditional and interactive design, branding, e-commerce integration, and content management systems. Noah holds a B.A. in History from Dartmouth College, where he was captain of the men's soccer team.

Robin Weiss
Robin Weiss grew up in New York and attended Bennett College where she majored in early childhood education, which subsequently led to her position at The United Nations Creche School where she worked until her marriage. Robin moved to Wyoming in 1976 and was responsible for creating an art program in the elementary school system; she also served as president of the PTA. At the same time, Robin started her design business "Cabin Fever Interiors," working on such projects as the Fredric Remington studio installation in the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Robin founded the Buffalo Bill Historical Center's Patrons Ball and created the Museum Cookbook, which has sold over 100,000 copies and is still sold today. In addition to founding the Spring Creek Equestrian Center, Robin has served on various boards, including a nine-year stint with the United States Pony Club, a horse organization for youth that teaches life skills such as responsibility, leadership, and moral judgment.

Gregory D. Zeigler
Since graduating from Washington & Jefferson College with a B.A. in English, Greg has been an educator in independent schools. He earned a M.Ed. from the University of Utah, has worked at eight private schools, and has headed three. Greg has been a homeowner in Jackson Hole since 1986, when he was the Executive Director of the Teton Science School. Throughout his career, Greg has founded and headed schools located in rural settings, and he has brought his passion for the environment and the arts to those institutions. He is a N.O.L.S. instructor and has taught both mountaineering and Nordic skiing. An actor and writer by avocation, Greg has worked as a first-assistant director on feature films, has acted in many professional commercials, and has performed in and directed many community theater productions. Greg has always been a vital contributor to the communities where he has lived, serving on the boards of many agencies and groups. He and his wife, Dimmie, and his boys, Alex and Will, recently moved back to Jackson Hole.
