Pete Ginsbury

How long have you been working in education?

This is my 10th year in classroom/school-based education.

In what areas?

I've taught HS mostly but did a stint in MS, 5th grade, and kindergarten (sick!) I've worked in non-classroom educational settings since I was in HS (coaching, guiding, instructing, etc).

How long at JHCS?

Starting 6th year at JHCS.

What do you do outside working at JHCS?

Outside JHCS, I try to keep inspired/learning in other areas: music and art. I try to stay physically and mentally healthy: spent time with my growing family (outside in nature as much as possible), pushing myself physically in a host of different pursuits. It's all about having fun and keeping things in the big picture.

What is your most rewarding part of the day at JHCS?

Interacting with students. They are such an exciting age group. They're learning who they are and to be comfortable with those realities while also learning to make sense of the world on the cusp of entering adulthood. That is an amazing context to be a part of; scary, exciting, and full of life.

What drew you to the field of education?

All my first jobs/responsibilities involved education. My mother was a classroom teacher/administrator. My father was a carpenter and coach--both always teaching and inspiring me.
