After an extensive global search, the Jackson Hole Community School (JHCS) is pleased to announce Manish N. Bhatt as the next Head of School. Manish is coming to JHCS from the Trinity Valley School (TVS) in Fort Worth, Texas, where he serves as the Head of Upper School. Commencing July 1st, 2020, Manish will be replacing Amy Fulwyler who is retiring after five years as the Head of School.
An alumnus of The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Manish holds a B.A. in International Affairs, Spanish Language and Literature (Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude) from The George Washington University; a Juris Doctor (magna cum laude) from St. Thomas University Law School; and an LL.M. Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. He spent the majority of his career as a Judge Advocate (JAG) for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) before joining TVS in the spring of 2015. He leads a division of over 40 faculty and staff and over 360 students in grades 9-12. Fluent in Spanish and Gujarati, he taught Spanish and currently teaches an advanced course in Economics in addition to coaching tennis. Manish’s priorities include student well-being, experiential and inquiry-based learning, and providing authentic opportunities for students to cultivate creativity, collaboration, and communication skills. He is also committed to outdoor education.
“I found the Jackson Hole Community School to be a dynamic learning environment; firmly rooted in dignity, empathy, and scholarship,” said Manish. “The faculty are representative of the high ideals of JHCS, and the students are innovative individuals who ensure that our world will continue evolving into an amazing place. My family and I are thrilled to join the JHCS family and the vibrant community of Jackson, Wyoming.”
Similarly to JHCS, TVS is a tight-knit community of caring and socially conscious individuals in a challenging academic environment. Their curriculum is composed by faculty members who are subject matter experts in their fields and dedicate themselves to preparing students for success in college and in life. Overwhelmingly nominated by his students, The Fort Worth Business Press honored Manish with a 40 Under 40 award in 2018. His colleagues described him as a deep listener, innovative, experienced, strategic, approachable, student-centered and compassionate.
Mike Eden, JHCS board chair and search committee chair said, “I am delighted to welcome Manish to our JHCS community as the next Head of School. Manish’s leadership experience, coupled with his values, and student-centered focus made him the unanimous choice. Manish’s demonstrated passion and commitment to the future success of our School made him the best choice to build upon the exceptional work of his predecessor, our beloved Amy Fulwyler.”
Originally from Stamford, New York, a small ski town in the Catskill Mountains, Manish learned to ski at the age of five. He has competed in alpine ski racing and has instructed skiing as well. When he wasn’t skiing he played competitive tennis and enjoyed everything a small mountain town offers, such as fishing, hiking, camping, and mountain biking. His wife, Meredith, grew up on Cape Cod and competed at the national level in synchronized figure skating. Their family enjoys traveling and an active life in the outdoors. They have a daughter, Nandini, and a Goldendoodle named Roz. Please join JHCS in welcoming all of them to the Jackson community!
