Sam Singer

How long have you been working in education?

I began tutoring and mentoring young kids when I was in high school. I've been working in education ever since. So, that makes it about 20 years.

In what areas?

I've mostly been in the outdoor education world teaching astronomy, ecology, geology, water science, and biology. I've also led back-country experiences and international service trips. In addition, I taught some college level education classes during grad school.

How long at JHCS?

This is my first year at JHCS.

What do you do outside working at JHCS?

I'm the Director of Education for Wyoming Stargazing, a local nonprofit in Jackson that offers public and private stargazing programs among other things.

What is your most rewarding part of the day at JHCS?

I love to see students get excited as their understanding of the Cosmos grows.

What drew you to the field of education?

Good question. I have no idea. It's just my calling. Since I was a little kid, I knew that being an educator was what I wanted to do.
