Student Support and Advisory Program

Advisory Program

At JHCS, education is about more than classroom learning, and students are supported not only in the study of academic disciplines but in their social, emotional, and interpersonal development. We believe personal relationships are the foundation for student growth, and our community fosters a vital Student and Academic Support culture that cultivates each student's academic and social development—the curiosity and integrity that are core to our mission. From the Deans of Student Life, who oversee our Advisory Program, to our Director of Student Support and Faculty Advisors, who partner to facilitate students' academic and SEL experiences, JHCS supports each student's learning style and believes that every student has the potential to develop characteristics essential for the four pillars in our Portrait of a Graduate: Leader, Thinker, Contributor, and Appreciator.
At JHCS, faculty advisors are central to each student's academic and social growth.
Advisory groups meet once a week for experiential activities, updates on academic progress, and small group discussions together. Advisors are the primary communication link between the school, student, and family, and each holds at least two conferences a year with parents. Advisors serve as students' primary advocates on campus. Students who need personal counseling beyond JHCS's services are referred to counselors for further guidance.
